A total of 20 youth applicants, who are either high school or college students, were accepted to the month-long President’s Summer Youth Program (PSYP) 2023 of the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC).
In a Meet and Greet Program, NHMFC President Renato L. Tobias reminded the PSYP participants to take advantage of this immense opportunity. “This could be career-defining, life-defining, and it depends on you, as an individual, on how you look at things that come up in your lives and what it can do in your lives,” he said.
He further encouraged the students to look at the bigger picture of this on-the-job training – working with people, offering aid to them, and understanding what it is to really perform.
The PSYP is pursuant to Executive Order No. 139 which is aimed to encourage high school, college and vocational students to be engaged in productive activities during summer vacation. It seeks to initiate youth participation in public service by involving them in government programs and processes. NHMFC has since been supportive of this government internship program where participants are entitled to a daily stipend/allowance of 75% of the prevailing minimum wage.
