Senior citizens in the Province of Pangasinan lauded NHMFC’s Enhanced Reverse Mortgage Program (ERMP) also known as MaBuHay Program.

A total of 75 representatives from the Pangasinan Office of the Senior Citizen’s Affairs (OSCA) headed by Ret. Maj. Juanito Dela Cruz attended the 2-day face-to-face orientation  conducted by NHMFC’s Marketing Department held on December 8-9, 2021. Day 1 was graced by seniors from District 1-3 representatives  while day 2 was attended by seniors from District 4-6.  Led by Mr. Rodel Leocario, Chief of NHMFC’s Product Documentation and Marketing Division, the NHMFC team ensured that minimum health protocols were observed during the event.

OSCA Head Ret. Maj. Juanito Dela Cruz expressed his appreciation on this program and committed to help NHMFC in promoting and increasing awareness about MaBuHay Program in this province.

Other attendees also requested that this Program should be cascaded to the senior citizens in the barangay level.

Moreover, the Office of the Governor of Pangasinan, through Ms. Alma Cristine Abawag, Administrative Officer of Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Pangasinan,  further invited NHMFC to present the MaBuHay Program in a bigger convention that will be hosted by the Governor’s Office sometime in CY2022

NHMFC President Carlo Luis P. Rabat expressed his warm greetings to the participants via video message.  “With the current global crisis that we are fighting, the NHMFC still ensures its social responsibility to address the financial needs of the senior members of our community,” he stated.

MaBuHay stands for MAginhawang BUhay sa BaHAY.  It is the first reverse mortgage program in the country that allows the origination of reverse mortgage accounts from NHMFC’s partner-originators.  Under this program, senior citizens who are owners of a house and lot or condominium unit are qualified to avail of this program using the equity they have built in their homes to address their financial needs. Through NHMFC’s partner originators, such as local government units (LGUs), financial institutions, cooperatives, and microfinance institutions, NHMFC will be able to provide additional financing window for senior citizens.  The MaBuHay Program was also designed by NHMFC in support of R.A. No. 9994 or the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010”.

Mr. Rodel Leocario, Chief of PDMD, explains how the MaBuHay Program helps the senior citizens for a Maayang Buhay (for house maintenance/renovation), Mahabang Buhay (to cover their medical expenses), Masiglang Buhay (for travel or vacation to enjoy the fruits of their labor), Masaganang Buhay (to serve as capital for their planned business), and Maayudang Buhay (to pay off other financial obligations).
